According to the portal, #UPLawHelps is an ad hoc initiative to support the public in the following areas of law: “exercise of civil and political rights; the conduct of private and public entities specifically related to the rights of COVID-19 patients; the interruption of activities and other ongoing activities relating to payments and similar obligations; and conflicting rights and obligations arising from COVID-19 or EQ-specific scenarios. Legal Aid Chicago provides free civil justice services to people living in poverty in Cook County. All clients must be registered by telephone and their eligibility must be verified by our Client Selection Unit at 312-341-1070. If you need legal assistance or advice, please email the team at uplawhelps@up.edu.ph. All requests are processed Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00. It brings together the entire UP legal community (administration, faculty, UP Law Center, students and alumni) to: (1) provide legal training, advice and advice; and (2) if necessary, in exceptional cases, legal representation of individuals or sectors affected by the enforcement and enforcement of Republic Act 11469, Republic Act 11332, or the rules and regulations relating to extended community quarantine (in certain “extremely enhanced” areas). The UP College of Law launched an online portal on April 20, 2020 to “process requests for legal assistance, legal advice and training and, where appropriate, legal representation on matters arising from the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine [ECQ].” It is an online legal aid platform designed and developed to handle requests for legal assistance, legal advice and education and, if necessary, legal representation for matters arising from the implementation of the extended community quarantine.
